Relationships
What everybody wants, but nobody wants to hear about. It something that needs to be talked about. I feel as though God is calling us to a time of singleness. We are still very young and not ready for a relationship. No matter how hard you try to keep your heart safe from the relationship it normally gets snatched away. A few Christians think all you have to do is save sex till marriage. Sure that’s true you do need to save sex until marriage but you also need to save your heart. I have a friend that said that it is alright to kiss your boyfriend or girlfriend, “that’s not giving your heart away”. In my opinion it is. It getting you too attached. Your giving something away that should be saved for the right one, saved for you husband or wife. Some people say to fallow your heart. But your heart is a very dangerous thing to listen to. Like it said in 1st kings 11, Solomon loved the foreign women but those woman turned Solomon’s heart to other gods. Solomon was in love and was warned, but he wouldn’t listen. He still married those women. He listens to his heart and it only brought him trouble. Solomon didn’t serve God with all his heart after this. And I think that’s what happens if you get into a relationship to young in life. You stray away from God. You want to have fun. You want to do your own thing. But it has consequences and you tend to fall away from your first love. What everyone needs to do is make standards for themselves and stick to them so you won’t find your self in a relationship that you regret. The relationship should come when you are ready to get married. I will share my standards with you.
1. I will not kiss before my wedding day
2. I will not hold hands before my wedding day
3. I will not have sex with anyone before my wedding day
4. I will not “cuddle” before my wedding day.
I know those might sound like high standards but that’s were I feel they need to be set at. There are still a few more standards that are not listed there.
What I have found that helped me not to think about relationships was not watching television shows with a lot of relationships or with a lot of impurity, also I have stopped listening to secular music (its been almost 2 years since I have chosen to listen to that kind of music.) There are probably some things that you can think of that cause you to think about wanting to be in a relationship. But you need to get those things out of your life right now. God wants you to focus on Him and only Him and when you are in a relationship with some one when you are still young you will be focusing on the person more then God. And it’s not worth it. You’re going to find yourself hurt.
I know some of you might be thinking that I have never been in a relationship before so therefore I don’t know a lot about the subject. And you’re right I haven’t ever been in a relationship before but I have seen people close to me be torn open, ripped apart and left far away from God because of the relationship.
I am sorry if I have offended anyone about what I have said but I feel as though God wanted me to share this.
God bless
